In 1987, the former Ministry of Railways authorized Beijing Jiaotong University (former Northern Jiaotong University) to establish a specialized research institution for railway goods loading and securing to enhance technical research in this field. Over the past decades, in response to the development of railway technology, the center has undertaken the following key tasks:
(1) Research on key safety issues in railway goods loading and securing, improvement of relevant theories and technologies, providing scientific basis for ensuring the safety and efficiency of railway goods transportation.
(2) Providing railway goods loading and securing solutions for large industrial enterprises.
(3) Utilizing advanced testing and monitoring technologies to achieve goods transportation safety monitoring.
(4) Conducting international container flexitank impact tests as COA authorized railway impact test center.
(5) Participating in the revising of railway goods transport regulations.
(6) Participating in Technical Conditions for Goods Loading and Securing of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (Appendix 3 of the CIM) as Chinese experts.
