Introduction to the Department of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Safety
To meet national strategic needs and strengthen the disciplinary competitiveness of transportation engineering while advancing technological innovation in the industry, the Department of Intelligent Transportation Systems and Safety was established in 2023. With academic backgrounds spanning information science, intelligent systems, and transportation engineering, the faculty forms a well-structured teaching force characterized by strong research capabilities and interdisciplinary innovation. The department has a faculty team of 20 members, including 10 professors, 8 associate professors, and 2 lecturers, all holding doctoral degrees. It also includes talents such as national-level candidates for the "Millions of Talents Project", technological innovation leaders of the Central Organization Department’s "Ten-Thousand Talents Plan", young and middle-aged technological innovation leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, national outstanding science and technology workers, the Ministry of Education’s New Century Talents, and Beijing Science and Technology Rising Stars.
The department is responsible for developing the major in Intelligent Transportation Engineering and supporting graduate training in transportation engineering and safety science and engineering. Faculty members actively guide students in academic competitions, earning over 20 national and provincial-ministerial-level awards. The department has cultivated a significant number of highly skilled professionals for national industries, particularly in the fields of transportation and information technology.
The faculty team conducts research in areas such as intelligent automation and safety assurance of transportation systems, and its related achievements have continuously received project support from the state and the railway industry. In recent years, the department’s faculty has undertaken more than 100 scientific research projects at the national, provincial, and ministerial levels, with research funding approaching 50 million yuan. It has won 2 National Science and Technology Progress Awards and over 30 other provincial/ministerial-level awards.
