Established in 2002 to meet the growing needs for informatization and intelligent development in China’s transportation sector, the Department of Transportation Information Management Engineering has developed a strong faculty and enjoys broad social recognition. The department brings together a group of distinguished experts and scholars in areas such as e-commerce and transportation informatization, who have made outstanding contributions to the construction and advancement of China’s transportation industry. The department currently has 24 faculty members, including 4 professors, 10 associate professors, and 10 lecturers, among whom 19 hold doctoral degrees.
The Department of Transportation Information Management Engineering is responsible for the development of the E-commerce program and the Intelligent Transportation Engineering specialization. It also undertakes disciplinary development and graduate education in e-commerce, transportation engineering, safety science and engineering, control science and engineering, and logistics engineering. In recent years, faculty members have guided students to participate in discipline-based competitions in fields such as e-commerce, winning more than 30 national- and provincial/ministerial-level awards. Since its establishment, the department has cultivated a large number of professionals in information management and Internet technologies for various sectors nationwide, particularly the transportation and Internet industries.
Scientific research in the department focuses on e-commerce, transportation informatization, and intelligent transportation. Over the past decade, it has undertaken more than 100 national and provincial/ministerial-level research projects, as well as nearly 100 industry-funded projects, with annual research funding approaching RMB 10 million. The department has achieved substantial research outcomes in areas such as e-commerce, transportation information systems, transportation safety systems engineering, and modeling and control technologies for complex transportation systems. These achievements have been successfully applied in practice, generating significant economic and social benefits.
