To thoroughly implement the major decisions and arrangements of the Party and the state on developing a modern logistics system and reducing the overall social logistics costs, in July 2024, with the approval and support of China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., the School of Traffic and Transportation at Beijing Jiaotong University took the lead, and joined hands with relevant research institutes and enterprises inside and outside the railway sector to establish the Railway Modern Logistics Research Center.

The Center conducts systematic, pivotal and original research focusing on the key issues in the construction of a railway modern logistics system. Its core work covers industrial policy research, theoretical innovation, technology and equipment incubation, think tank support services, and innovative talent cultivation. It gives full play to its role as a bridge to connect upstream and downstream sectors, integrate resources inside and outside the railway industry, and link industry, academia and research institutions. Proactively promoting the transformation and application of research outcomes, the Center strives to develop itself into a base for industrial policy research, theoretical innovation, technology and equipment incubation, think tank support services, and innovative talent cultivation in the field of railway modern logistics, so as to fully serve and support the advancement of railway Six Modernization and the construction of a railway modern logistics system.
