On December 5, 2025, the 2nd Symposium on Low-Altitude Economy and Intelligent Transportation was successfully held at Beijing Jiaotong University. Hosted by the School of Traffic and Transportation, Beijing Jiaotong University, the symposium was co-organized by the Intelligent Civil Aviation Development Research Center and the Department of Air Transport and Systems Engineering of the school. It consisted of two parts: keynote speeches in the morning and discussions regarding the development of low-altitude transportation-related majors and the compilation of relevant textbooks.

The morning keynote speeches were held in the conference hall of the National-level Teaching Equipment Museum at Beijing Jiaotong University, with Meng Lingyun, Dean of the School of Traffic and Transportation, serving as the moderator. Dean Meng first extended a warm welcome to the participating leaders, experts, teachers and students, and introduced the disciplinary advantages of the School of Traffic and Transportation of Beijing Jiaotong University in the field of low-altitude economy and intelligent transportation. He pointed out that since the establishment of the "Intelligent Civil Aviation Development Research Center" in 2020, the school has achieved a series of high-level research results, including high-quality academic papers and national key scientific research projects, in areas such as airport operation optimization, airport group coordination, low-altitude emergency rescue, general aviation and low-altitude economy. This time, the "Intelligent Civil Aviation Development Research Center" and the "Department of Air Transport and Systems Engineering" jointly organized the 2nd Symposium on Low-Altitude Economy and Intelligent Transportation, expecting experts to better exchange ideas and solve industry challenges.

The afternoon session centered on the construction of low-altitude transportation disciplines and professional training, as well as discussions on international cooperation in civil aviation talent cultivation at Beijing Jiaotong University.

Lastly, Professor Li Yanhua (Email: yh.li@bjtu.edu.cn), Director of the Department of Air Transport and Systems Engineering under the School of Traffic and Transportation at Beijing Jiaotong University, shared the ongoing considerations for the construction of low-altitude-related majors. She emphasized that that by leveraging the disciplinary strengths of traffic and transportation field, the school will adopt a distinctive professional positioning. In response to the current talent shortage in low-altitude planning and operation, a modular curriculum system of "Planning + Operation + Operation Control" for low-altitude intelligent operation will be constructed. By means of interdisciplinary curriculum design and school-enterprise collaborative training programs, the university will cultivate interdisciplinary talents competent for roles such as low-altitude traffic dispatching and low-altitude infrastructure planning. These talents will help bridge the industrial talent gap and provide support for the large-scale development of the low-altitude economy.

The 2nd Symposium on Low-Altitude Economy and Intelligent Transportation brought together many industry elites and academic leaders to jointly explore the innovative development paths and latest achievements of the low-altitude economy. The venue was fully occupied with enthusiastic exchanges, building a platform for in-depth connection between government, industry, academia and research. The successful holding of this symposium has provided new ideas for the "Department of Air Transport and Systems Engineering" of Beijing Jiaotong University regarding the integrated development of the low-altitude economy and intelligent transportation, and injected new intellectual momentum into the high-quality development of the national three-dimensional transportation network.
