From January 11 to 15, 2026, a delegation of faculty and students from BJTU School of Traffic and Transportation attended the 105th Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., USA, and successfully hosted the Reception TRB 2026. The event aimed to recruit high-level overseas talent, unite global alumni, support the development of first-class transportation engineering disciplines, and enhance the School's international influence in the field.

The TRB Annual Meeting is one of the largest, most influential, and most widely attended annual gatherings in international transportation research, dedicated to presenting the latest scientific achievements and trends in the field.
Through paper presentations, poster sessions, and other formats, the attending faculty and students showcased the School's research accomplishments and global impact. Their work focused on cutting-edge areas such as transportation system planning and management, intelligent transportation, low-carbon and sustainable transportation, and multimodal coordination, thereby further expanding the School's network for international academic exchange.

During the annual meeting, the School hosted the Reception TRB 2026 at the main venue of the Washington Convention Center. The event attracted over a hundred alumni, young scholars, and industry experts from universities, research institutions, and companies worldwide.

Professor HE Shiwei, Vice Dean of the School, attended and addressed the reception. He presented the School's latest progress in discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research, and international collaboration. He also detailed the high-level talent recruitment policies and development environment at both the university and school levels, extending a sincere welcome to outstanding young overseas scholars and senior researchers to join BJTU for work, exchange, and cooperation. Professor HE emphasized that the School would continue to leverage high-level international platforms like TRB to foster open and free exchange mechanisms, advancing both high-level talent recruitment and international research collaboration.

During the reception, alumni from various graduating classes and invited guests gathered, sharing fond memories and expressing their ongoing affection and concern for their alma mater.
The event also featured several internationally renowned experts and scholars in transportation research. Drawing on their own research and career experiences, these experts engaged in in-depth discussions with attendees on topics including the latest disciplinary trends, international academic cooperation, and career development for young scholars. The lively and thorough exchanges further enhanced mutual understanding and academic recognition between the School and scholars from abroad.

BJTU School of Traffic and Transportation consistently prioritizes international academic exchange and global talent collaboration. It actively utilizes high-level international academic platforms to continuously strengthen ties with overseas universities, research institutions, and academic organizations, steadily advancing its internationalization and talent team development. This participation in the TRB Annual Meeting not only elevated the School's profile and influence within the global transportation research community but also laid a solid foundation for building a stronger high-level talent team and exploring new avenues for international research cooperation. It has injected fresh momentum and opened new prospects for the high-quality development of transportation engineering disciplines.
