Dutch Embassy Education and Science Counsellor Visits Beijing Jiaotong University School of Traffic and Transportation

On the afternoon of May 19, 2026, Dhoya Snijders, Education and Science Counsellor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in China, along with Education and Science Officer Wang Yu, visited the School of Traffic and Transportation (STT) at Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU). The meeting was attended by Yuyan Tan, Vice Dean of STT; Xiaojie Luan, Head of the BJTU-TUD Joint Program Working Group; Ruojun He, Head of the Joint Program Office; and Jialei Ding, faculty representative from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the undergraduate cooperative education program in transportation and explored potential avenues for future collaboration opportunities.

 

Vice Dean Yuyan Tan extended a warm welcome to Counsellor Snijders and his delegation. Subsequently, Professor Xiaojie Luan provided a detailed presentation of the progress that has been made so far to the BJTU-TUD Joint Program between STT and TU Delft.

Counsellor Snijders expressed his gratitude for the hospitable reception and spoke highly of the STT's efforts in talent cultivation and internationalization within the field of transportation. He stated that the Dutch Embassy in China would continue to support collaborative initiatives between the two institutions, aiming to foster more substantive achievements in education and scientific research cooperation. During the exchange session, the parties discussed further deepening cooperation in areas such as joint talent cultivation, collaborative research projects, and student exchanges.

After the meeting, Counsellor Snijders and his delegation toured the School's Transportation Science Exhibition Hall to gain further insight into STT’s distinctive features and strengths in the transportation field.

 

The BJTU-TUD Joint Program in Transportation is jointly offered by the STT at BJTU and the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at TU Delft. It is the first Ministry of Education-approved joint undergraduate program in "Transportation" among higher education institutions in Beijing. TU Delft is ranked 47th in the 2026 QS World University Rankings, with its Civil Engineering program holding the 5th position globally. This collaboration brings together leading strengths, dedicated to cultivating outstanding talents in transportation who possess cross-cultural communication skills, innovative potential, and international competitiveness.
