
Shuming Zhang, a 2021 undergraduate student from BJTU-TUD Joint Program, is a Chinese Communist Party member and served as the President of the Beijing Jiaotong University Student Union. He ranked second in his major and was recommended for postgraduate admission to Southeast University, while also receiving offers for postgraduate recommendation from six prestigious universities, including Zhejiang University, Tongji University, and Beihang University. He won the Gold Award in the First National Career Planning Competition for College Students. As the first author of an SCI paper and the leader of two national-level College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Programs, he has secured 48 national and provincial-level awards in research competitions. He has received 34 honors, including the Baogang Outstanding Student Award, Outstanding Student Cadre,and Beijing Municipal Outstanding Individual Award, along with 14 scholarships such as the Xiaomi Scholarship. He holds the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competency Certificate issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and was recognized as an Outstanding Participant in the New Youth Global Competence Development Program by the China Education Association for International Exchange.

He ranked 2nd in his major has been admitted to Southeast University as a recommended postgraduate student.

He led his team to win the National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program award for two consecutive years. His achievements were featured in China Transportation News. As the first author of an SCI paper, he was awarded the Baogang Outstanding Student Award—a distinction granted to only two undergraduates. He was invited to participate in the Beijing-Taiwan Youth Summit, where he shared his insights on scientific innovation in the transportation industry with the Secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China. Additionally, he has taken part in multiple national-level exhibitions of scientific and technological achievements.

With the career goal of becoming an intelligent transportation planner, he won the only national gold medal for Beijing at the first National College Student Career Planning Competition organized by the Ministry of Education. He was received by the Vice Minister of Education and the Chief Engineer of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. He has also been interviewed and featured by multiple media, including China Media Group, sharing the inspiring story of a driven young student from Beijing Jiaotong University.

He participated in professional study in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Hangzhou, securing internship offers from Hello Inc. in Shanghai and China Construction First Group. Additionally, he took part in the Ministry of Education's New Youth Global Competence Development Program and was recognized as an innovation and entrepreneurship talent by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

He served as the team leader of the practical volunteer group for two consecutive years, earning recognition as an Outstanding Team and Outstanding Individual in Beijing. In the summer of 2024, he represented the university in exchange and practice activities in Laos and Malaysia under the Belt and Road Initiative. For these efforts, his team was once again awarded the title of Outstanding Team in Beijing.

As one of the Chinese Communist Party members in the class of 2021, he participated in numerous political competitions at both the municipal and university levels, achieving significant results.

He served as the President of the Student Union at Beijing Jiaotong University and has 14 years of experience as a class monitor.

He participated in professional volunteer activities with over one hundred hours of volunteer service.
