Practical Platforms

The practical platforms of this program include the National Demonstration Center For Experimental Traffic and Transportation Education (including the Transportation Equipment Teaching Hall) and the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Traffic and Transportation, covering a total area of 5,100 square meters with equipment valued at over 33 million yuan.

1. National Demonstration Center For Experimental Traffic and Transportation Education

Approved as a construction unit of the "National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center" in 2009 and officially accredited and listed in 2013, the Transportation Experimental Center covers a construction area of 1,000 square meters. It mainly provides experimental teaching for undergraduates of the School of Traffic and Transportation, as well as for courses such as "Introduction to Railways", "Introduction to Transportation" and "Cognitive Internship" for students of other majors in the university. It also supports students’ discipline competitions, college students’ innovation and entrepreneurship training programs, and various other academic exchange and innovation activities. The center focuses on building a high-level experimental team, constructing experimental platforms, designing experimental courses, guiding student competitions, conducting teaching reform research, and promoting demonstration, radiation, and open sharing of resources.

2. National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Traffic and Transportation

Recognized by the Ministry of Education in 2014, the National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Center for Traffic and Transportation covers a construction area of 800 square meters with equipment valued at 15 million yuan. The center is committed to developing experimental teaching projects using technologies such as virtual reality, semi-physical simulation, and network collaboration, serving the experimental teaching of relevant majors in the School of Traffic and Transportation, and promoting the open sharing of virtual simulation resources. Centered on four major virtual simulation experimental teaching platforms (railway transportation, urban rail transit, traffic engineering, and civil aviation), the center strives to build a high-level experimental teaching platform for transportation through technological innovation.

3. Transportation Equipment Teaching Hall (Transportation Museum)

Predecessor to the Transportation Equipment Teaching Hall was the Communications Museum established in 1928, which was officially founded in 1951. It covers a total area of 3,500 square meters with a usable area of 1,800 square meters. The exhibits cover the entire industrial chain of China’s railways, highways, aviation, etc., demonstrating core transportation technologies at various stages, and highlighting cutting-edge directions such as intelligent transportation and green low-carbon development. The museum has successively won numerous national honors, including the "National Railway Science Popularization Education Base of the China Railway Society", "National Transportation Science Popularization Base", "National Science Popularization Education Base", "Beijing Science Popularization Base", and the "Practical Teaching Base for 'Great Ideological and Political Courses'" recognized by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology. It has become a window for the university’s external publicity and exchange, as well as a science popularization education base.
