Faculty Strength

Founded concurrently with its parent university, the School of Traffic and Transportation is the birthplace of modern railway management education in China. With over a century of development and accumulation, it has built a high-level teaching and research platform that takes railway transportation as its advantage and characteristic, covering multiple transportation modes such as highways, urban rail transit, and civil aviation. The school has assembled a strong faculty with a reasonable structure, boasting 220 faculty and staff members, including 70 professors, 79 associate senior professionals, and 8 experts receiving Special Government Allowances from the State Council. The faculty includes many national high-level talents: 2 recipients of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Excellent Young Scientists Fund (including 1 from the Overseas Excellent Young Scientists Fund), 2 Leading Scientists in Technological Innovation and 1 Young Top-notch Talent under the National Ten-Thousand Talents Program, as well as 2 recipients of the Young Thousand Talents Program. Based on the transportation discipline, the school has actively expanded into interdisciplinary fields such as logistics, e-commerce, safety science and engineering, and control science and engineering, forming a multi-level and broad-caliber high-quality talent training system.

The Department of Transport & Planning at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) is affiliated with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geosciences and is one of the most influential transportation science research institutions globally. The faculty scale of the school is substantial, with 80 professors. Led by 7 internationally renowned professors, the Department of Transport & Planning leverages the collaborative efforts of a dynamic team of over 20 associate professors and assistant professors to advance teaching and research. It covers 13 cutting-edge research directions, including intelligent transportation systems, traffic modeling and control, autonomous driving simulation, traffic safety, freight logistics, intelligent public transport, electric and automated transportation, mobile network digitalization, artificial intelligence applications, extended reality (XR), and sustainable urban mobility. The department has established multiple interdisciplinary research laboratories, continuously leading the international academic frontier.

The Transportation (Sino-foreign Cooperative Education) program integrates high-quality educational resources from China and abroad, building a composite faculty with international perspectives and industrial experience. The program's faculty consists of over 40 Chinese teachers and 19 foreign teachers, comprising core teachers with international research backgrounds and part-time mentors with rich industry practice experience. This forms an international talent training framework that deeply integrates theory and practice.
